Prison Crime Club: Black Gold by Tony C. Scott

Meet Finn Black. Prison governor. Ex-Royal Marine. Hiding in Shetland.

On the run from the British and American authorities, Finn Black has sought refuge in Shetland. But when the Russians sever communications between the islands and the rest of the United Kingdom as a prelude to a terrorist attack on the Sullom Voe oil terminal, Finn does what he does best…

Organise a resistance and fight back.

Written by an ex-prison governor, Black Gold is inspired by events that took place in Shetland in October 2022.

“Brilliantly evocative of Shetland – feels like you’re actually there with Finn and Co. Old friends turn up but there are some great new characters too. Plus of course action and intrigue. I couldn’t put it down. Finn Black is quite a man …”

Prison Crime Club: Black on Blue by Tony C. Scott

Meet Finn Black. Prison governor. Ex-Royal Marine. Mightily motivated.

Could you take a chainsaw to the face of someone you love to prove your loyalty to the boss?

Finn Black did.

And he’s not finished yet.

Written by an ex-prison governor, Black on Blue takes you behind bars and deep into the heart of Leeds’ criminal underworld.

Yet again from the first paragraph Finn Black had me hooked. I had to keep reading. Twists and turns, horror and humour, and packed with fascinating details and real insights into a whole other world (thanks to the author’s real-life experience) – this is a fast-paced sequel to Locked Black. Which left me wanting to know what’s going to happen next…

Prison Crime Club: Locked Black by Tony C. Scott

Meet Finn Black. Prison governor. Ex-Royal Marine. Mightily pissed-off.

Finn Black wants a quiet life. An ex-Royal Marine, he’s now working as a prison governor in Armley Gaol, the Victorian edifice that dominates the Leeds’ skyline.

A lifetime of violence has left him equipped to manage some of the UK’s toughest convicts, teaching them to respect the law – and him.

But then they killed his ex-wife, leaving him with no choice but to step outside the legal system to avenge her. With the help of his best friend, Detective Chief Inspector David Williams, and exploiting his contacts in the criminal justice system, he will find out who was responsible.

The only question is whether he will end up sentenced to life in his own prison.

Written by an ex-prison governor, Locked Black takes you behind bars and deep into the heart of Leeds’ criminal underworld.

I’ve done fuck all today and I’m now at chapter 24. I haven’t read a book for ages so I think you can take this as a compliment! I’m thinking there is other stuff I should do but fuck it, I’m happy reading.”

Just finished the book. I enjoyed it hugely and it would appear that you had a ball writing it. Your enjoyment of its creation sings off every page. I love your writing…my very favourite section is Chapter 15…so elegantly written.

For fans of Jack Reacher / Lee Child this is a must read. You’re going to love Gov Finn Black. Gripping from the start, action-packed and with a plot full of twists and turns – you’ll be urging Finn on against the bad guys. A fascinating insight to a whole new (under)world. Can’t wait for the next one…
